'British Pride'
2020
Hand Embroidered Mask
In 1936, the ‘keep calm and carry on’ posters were produced by the British government, during world war II to boost morale during such tragic time, especially with the threat of being bombed. With this in mind, there were rumours that these posters where made for if we lost the war. In May of 2020 Britain was the second highest death rates in the world for Covid-19, yet our new poster is ‘Stay alert, control the virus, save lives’. These words seem to follow in the footsteps of our past government telling us to ‘carry on’. British pride has this mentality to keep working no matter what, is this because the want to, or are they told to by higher powers?
